Rod designs educational covers for Scholastic across grades K-12 both in the English & Spanish language markets. He has design covers for such programs as: READ 180, MATH 180, FASTT Math, Big Day, & Codex to name a few. The types of cover include: Teaching Guides, Student Guides, and supplemental classroom materials.


Campaign Design
The City University of New York (CUNY) – "College of Possibilities Campaign"

Rod provided art direction and designed/illustrated The City University of New York (CUNY) – Baruch College "College of Possibilities Campaign" for (Fall 2010, Spring 2011, & Summer 2011).  Each seasonal "paint splash" was created to help inspire the desire of learning, growing, and becoming – spreading awareness of the opportunities that Baruch College (CUNY) offers.  Printed Ads have been published in Time Out NY, Metro NY, AM New York, to name a few.  Please see below for a full page Ad published in Time Out NY.

Penguin Random House

Rod designed marketing design campaigns for Penguin Random House at Random House Children’s Books for such entities as: Disney, Nickelodeon, & Barbie to name a few.


Visual Identity – Lang Lang: Playing with Flying Keys
Penguin Random House

I designed and illustrated the marketing design identity and brochure for Lang Lang’s new book titled, Lang Lang: Playing with Flying Keys. Lang Lang is a leading figure in classical music today – as a pianist, educator and philanthropist.


Identity & Campaign Design – Reading Program
Curriculum Associates – Magnetic Reading (English & Spanish Language Market)

I directed and designed various campaign components for the reading program, Magnetic Reading (grades 3 – 5), at Curriculum Associates. Designs included, Identity and logo design of Magnetic Reading as well as book cover designs of Student Editions and Teacher’s Guides for the program.

I designed various campaign components for the Pre-Kindergarten early childhood education program, BIG DAY, at Scholastic. Designs included, book cover design and package design for Books, Activity Books, Audiobooks, and CDs.

 

T-Shirt Design
Penguin Random House & J.P. Morgan Chase – 2009

I was selected by Human Resources management at Penguin Random House to design the Penguin Random House T-shirt design for the Penguin Random House running team racing in the J.P. Morgan Chase Corporate Challenge in 2009. The J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge is the world’s largest corporate running event, (a 3.5-mile / 5.6-kilometer road race) with events taking place in 15 locations across eight countries and six continents.

1st Place Design Award – J.P. Morgan Chase Corporate Challenge

I was selected by Human Resources management at Penguin Random House to design the award-winning Penguin Random House T-shirt design for the Penguin Random House running team racing in the J.P. Morgan Chase Corporate Challenge. My T-Shirt design won the 1st place design award in the 2008 annual J.P. Morgan Chase T-Shirt Design competition in New York City. The J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge is the world’s largest corporate running event, (a 3.5-mile / 5.6-kilometer road race) with events taking place in 15 locations across eight countries and six continents.

Clothing Brand Design – “Curve”
Liz Claiborne Inc.

I Illustrated graphic designs printed on apparel for the young men’s clothing line, “Curve.”  I designed graphics printed on men’s T-shirts, hoodies, jackets, sweaters, and button-down shirts. Design themes included music, extreme sports, military, and western. I created apparel product mock-ups as well as prepared hi-res art files to be print-ready.   I also created graphic textile pattern designs printed on casual, knit, & dresswear for Sears, Metroconcepts brand.
